About This Project
Location

Scarborough, Ontario

Designed in consultation with the Coptic Orthodox Pope, St. Mark’s is the first Coptic Orthodox church in North America. It houses a worship area for 450 parishioners, a church hall, with Sunday school rooms, and parish offices at the lower level.

The design of the worship space expresses in contemporary terms the forms of the Coptic Tradition and it adheres to the requirements of Coptic dogma in its organization, orientation and in the provision of domes. The church was designed to permit a cultural centre, which was completed several years later.
